On Sunday, Evelyn, Pastor Juan’s wife, shared part of her testimony. Originally from El Salvador, she followed God’s calling to come to Guatemala even though she had next to nothing. She married Juan, and together, they began building their dream of a church ministry. Through many miraculous events, God provided the land where we are helping build New Generation now. Her story is a beautiful example of God’s faithfulness and what it looks like to trust Him with literally everything.

Each week, Pastor Juan invites the local police to come to New Generation for ministry. When he saw how corrupt the police were when he came back to Guatemala, he decided to do something about it. He chose to serve them. He started by going to them at their stations and offering prayer. Now, they come to New Generation a service. We look forward to meeting new officers and being a part of ministering to them each week.

Even in the midst of fear and restrictions, God has already been breaking down the walls of fear and working in the hearts of the community leaders. The head leader of our community, who carries a symbolic stick at all times, knocked on our gate last weekend and told Pastor Juan that the leaders have decided to allow families to come to us to receive food and prayer. This is a HUGE answer to our prayers!

Considering that we have only been allowed outside the gate to go to town so far, this is an open door both figuratively and literally. Serving the community through worship, sharing the gospel, and food is the very reason New Generation exists. Finally being able to fulfill that was an incredible blessing to participate in alongside Pastor Juan and his family.

Eight families came to New Generation on Wednesday the 27th. We handed out packets of blankets and food, worshipped, and prayed with the families. Because two families were unable to walk the distance to us, we had the exciting opportunity to finally go out into the community. We carried the supplies to them and prayed over them. They welcomed us and even offered us bread and soda as we sat to talk with them. What a sweet blessing!

We are praising God for another week of ministry, open doors, and walls that are falling down!
